Conecuh National Forest

Located along the Alabama-Florida state line, Conecuh is a quintessential southern walk-in-the-woods. Through its acerage, hikers will walk through a coastal plain pine forest of towering longleaf pine, past cypress swamps and pitcher plant bogs, and winding creeks and blue spring ponds. The forest is home to many forms of plant and wildlife including the rare red cockaded woodpecker. If you're looking for a backpacking trip in south Alabama, look no further than Conecuh which is home of the 20-mile long Conecuh Trail. The path is a perfect "starter" trail for beginners and veterans alike.

Upcoming Work Days

Various unscheduled grooming days pop-up for the Conecuh Trail constantly. Contact Erik Douglas to find out when the next one will be at edouglas@hikealabama.org.
